Made simple with Ocean Reef Pools

Your Pool installation

At Ocean Reef Pools, we believe transparency is key. That’s why we’ve outlined exactly what to expect during your pool installation journey. Working with Barrier Reef Pools’ award-winning shells and our experienced in-house team, we follow a proven process that ensures your pool is installed to the highest standards every time.

Initial Consultation & Site Inspection

Every fibreglass pool installation in Mackay starts with a thorough on-site consultation. Our team will visit your property to assess site access, soil conditions and ideal pool positioning — making sure your new pool is the perfect fit for your backyard, lifestyle and block. We'll walk you through your options, answer your questions and map out a clear plan before anything is ordered or committed to.
1

Pool Delivery to Site

Once your fibreglass pool shell has been approved and ordered, it is delivered directly to your property ready for installation. Our team coordinates the logistics so delivery is smooth, efficient and causes minimal disruption to your home and neighbours.
2

Final Mark Out

Before any excavation begins, our experienced site supervisor meets you on-site for the final mark out. Every dimension is confirmed — pool positioning, orientation, depth and any optional extras you've selected — so there are absolutely no surprises once the ground breaks.

Excavation

Our qualified build team begins excavation to your pool's exact engineering specifications. We work to precise measurements to ensure the hole is shaped, sized and prepared correctly for your fibreglass shell — a critical step that sets the foundation for a structurally sound installation.

Pool Installation & Backfill

Your fibreglass pool shell is carefully crane-lifted into position and lowered into the excavated hole. The pool is meticulously levelled and squared before being filled with water to provide ballast. The surrounding cavity is then backfilled in compacted layers to ensure long-term structural integrity — a process that differentiates a quality fibreglass pool installation from a rushed one.

Bond Beam

A reinforced concrete bond beam is poured around the full perimeter of the pool. This structural collar anchors the fibreglass shell to the surrounding ground, ties the pool to its surrounds and provides a solid, load-bearing base for all coping, tiling and landscaping works. This step is one of the most important structural elements in any fibreglass pool build.
6

Quality Assurance Check #1

Our site supervisor conducts a comprehensive quality assurance inspection across all completed works — excavation, installation, backfill and bond beam. Nothing moves forward until everything meets the high standards Ocean Reef Pools holds on every job in Mackay, Moranbah and the Whitsundays.
7

Coping Tile Installation

Your selected coping tiles are installed around the full edge of the pool, creating a slip-resistant, weather-durable border that seamlessly transitions from the pool waterline to your surrounding outdoor area. Our team takes care to ensure all tiles are set level, secure and finished to a high standard.
8

Concrete Surrounds

Concrete is poured and finished around the pool perimeter to your chosen finish and specification — creating a durable, functional and attractive poolside area. This is your outdoor entertaining space taking shape, and we treat the finish with the same attention to detail as the pool itself.
9

Quality Assurance Check #2

A second quality assurance inspection is completed by our supervisor, covering all structural, tiling and concrete works. All completed stages are checked against Queensland Building Standards and Ocean Reef Pools' own quality benchmarks before fence works begin.
10

Pool Fence Measure Up

Our fencing specialists visit your property to take precise measurements and plan the full fence layout. Gate positions, post locations and panel configurations are all confirmed at this stage to meet Queensland Pool Barrier Regulations and your local Mackay Regional Council requirements.
11

Pool Fence Installation

Your pool fence is professionally installed by our fencing team to comply with Queensland Safety Regulations, Australian Standard AS 1926.1 and all applicable local council requirements. Pool fencing compliance is non-negotiable, and we handle every detail to ensure your pool is fully compliant from day one.
12

Final Quality Assurance Check

Our supervisor completes a final, full-project quality assurance check across every stage of the installation — from the shell and bond beam through to coping, concrete and fencing. Only once this inspection is passed does your project move to handover.
13

Pool Handover

We've partnered with On Top Pool Services to deliver a professional, thorough pool handover. Their team will meet you on-site to walk through all pool equipment, explain your water chemistry and maintenance requirements in plain English, and hand over your complete documentation pack — including all manufacturer warranties, care guides and product manuals.
14

Compliance Certification

Your pool journey ends with full peace of mind. All compliance certificates are formally issued — including Form 16 inspections, a Pool Safety Certificate and pool registration with the Queensland Pool Safety Register. Every document is presented to you in full, confirming your fibreglass pool is legally certified, safe and ready to enjoy for years to come.
15
